There is no denying the healing potency of cinnamon. At the end of the trial, all three groups taking cinnamon supplements significantly reduced blood glucose, triglycerides, LDL (or bad cholesterol) and overall cholesterol. The placebo groups remained unchanged. The glucose and cardiovascular improvements increased as the cinnamon dose went up. Interestingly, the lowered glucose levels and triglycerides stayed low for 20 days before the end of the supplementation. It is difficult to add six grams of cinnamon to your daily diet, plus there are some researchers who have found that ingesting an overabundance of whole cinnamon might cause an adverse and unwanted reaction.


Cinnamon has some insoluble solids that can lead to potential chromosome abnormalities and, perhaps, pre-cancerous cells. Now researchers from Tel Aviv University found that extracts from cinnamon bark inhibit the toxic amyloid polypeptide oligomers and fibrils that have been found in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) brain plaque formations. In animal models of Alzheimer's, cinnamon reduced s-amyloid plaques associated with the pathology of AD. Reduction of these proteins can improve mental cognition. In one model, cinnamon extract resolved AD associate reduced longevity, helped recover locomotion defects and completely abolished tetrameric species of plaque in the brain.
